Our Beliefs
Jesus told his disciples, “...let your light shine before others in such a way that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”
We at Immanuel believe that this is our purpose - to glorify God in all that we say and do. We invite you to join us in our worship and praise of God. We look to Jesus and seek to discern and follow his direction for our lives. We are not perfect, but we are perfectly forgiven by God's love demonstrated by Jesus' life on earth: by his teaching and healing ministry, by his death on the cross to save us from our sins and eternal death, and by his resurrection from the dead by the power of god. That same power of God is available to all that believe both now and in the life to come.
This is what we believe; and we desire to live out our fath so that others can experience the love, joy, and peace of God in their lives as we worship and work together to advance the reign of God. Our desire is to help those in need - to be the arms, hands, and feet of Christ to a hurting world.
Immanuel is a congregation in the United Church of Christ. Each congregation in the UCC is independent. We do work together with other churches in the UCC as well as with those of other denominations and non-denominational groups in missions, community worship events, and service projects.
A Note from the Pastor:
I am Paul Seburg. This (2010) will be my 15th year as pastor at Immanuel Church, and I have been an ordained minister serving in parish churches for 28 years. God called me to be a pastor many years ago, and my wife Alison and I have been truly happy and blessed here in Southern Indiana. We have two grown children who live in Minnesota.
If you are looking for a church, please come and “check us out”! We have lots of fun too, with wonderful dinners, movie nights, and picnics in our shelter house and woods. People tell us that we are a friendly church - come and see for yourselves!
